Coffeechug AI Thoughts and Updates 10/21/24
Welcome to this week’s AI Education Newsletter, where I explore innovation, AI tools, digital citizenship, and creative challenges to enhance learning.
Someone who I read and follow on so many topics in education when it comes to innovation, design, and creativity is Jeremy Utley. His book is one of the best I have read on these topics and recently he has been writing on AI. His blog post from back in September is one I saved and read recently and it is well worth the read.
Whether we are discussing AI or any other issue that requires us to pivot and change I find this line in the post to resonate the most
“The key differentiator is something far more fundamental: the capacity to realize and implement the ideas that have been identified.” and later goes on to say, “Guidara recognized that having an insight isn’t the same as implementing an insight”
Catalyze AI Success: Key Concepts from Jeremy Utley
Jeremy Utley emphasizes the need for dedicated innovation capacity to bridge the gap between AI insights and tangible outcomes. He also highlights the importance of fostering a culture of experimentation. For more, visit Jeremy Utley’s blog.
Latest Updates to Google NotebookLM
I am like so many others in that I really am impressed with Google NotebookLM. I continue to find myself using this tool more and more. For me, the podcast feature is well worth the time and now with updates to customize the audio objectives it is even better than before.
NotebookLM’s October 2024 update includes:
New Notebook Creation: Add YouTube videos, documents, and audio files.
Custom Audio Overviews: Guide AI hosts to emphasize specific themes.
Enhanced Collaboration: Real-time sharing and a new mobile app for flexible note-taking.

How to Use ChatGPT’s Voice Mode for Interview Prep
I continue to try and find ways to think about how to leverage AI in ways that perhaps we are not always thinking about in the day to day. I recently was reading and thinking about ways students could also see the values of AI in new ways as well.
Get ready for interviews with ChatGPT’s Voice Mode:
Enable Voice Mode: Go to Settings > Personalization > Customize ChatGPT.
Mock Interview Prompt:
“Hi ChatGPT! Act as my interviewer. Ask open-ended questions about my background, experiences, and future goals. Keep it conversational.”
This approach provides realistic practice for students and job seekers. You could load in interview questions, change the prompt for it to ask harder questions, easier questions, load the prompt with details of the company, etc.
